I felt like I was camping out in the woods with adorable deer running wild everywhere. The staff were friendly and very accommodating, and the location offered access to walks along the ocean. However, the decor needed some serious sprucing up to match the lovely surroundings.

When I downgraded to a smaller room separate from the cottages, it was very musty. Despite asking for a different room, they wouldn't move me into a more suitable one.

While they worked hard to be friendly to new arrivals, they were unhelpful when I asked if they had a bus timetable for the stop outside. However, I appreciated their kindness in boxing up items for me to send back, even though it was at our expense.

The location was terrific, near a peaceful cemetery with distant views of the lighthouse. The short walk to Asilomar Beach for sunsets and spotting sea otters added to its charm. The presence of deer around the area made it feel like I was truly in nature.

My stay at the hotel had its ups and downs. The location was fantastic, close to the coast and downtown Pacific Grove, making it ideal for day trips. The rooms, however, were not as clean as expected, with floor dirt and a persistent stench in the bathroom. The service was top-notch, accommodating my request to combine bookings and check in early.

Staying at this hotel was a mixed experience. On the upside, it was a decent place to stay near the beautiful coast, but the downside was being close to a cemetery with a view of grave stones from my room. The room itself, located in one of the Cottages across the street from the main hotel, was modern and clean with a clean and modern bathroom. The proximity to the cemetery brought a unique touch to the stay, and I'm intrigued yet reserved about it.
